Welcome to Vancouver - a vibrant metropolitan city, Vancouver is nestled between majestic mountains, sparkling ocean, rainforests and beautiful foliage. All four seasons make Vancouver one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Upon arrival at Vancouver International Airport we’ll pick up our rental car and drive to our downtown hotel. Once we have settled into our hotel, we suggest you go for an orientation walk around the neighbourhood to get our bearings and check out the unique shops and restaurants.
Today begins with a slow drive over The Lion's Gate Bridge spanning the entrance to Vancouver's port. The longest suspension bridge in the world when it was completed, it offers unparalleled views of the harbour and English Bay beyond. Once across to the North Shore, it is a short drive to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Walk among the towering trees of this temperate rain forest and learn the ways of the local first nations' peoples. Then walk across the world's longest foot suspension bridge to the other side of the river where we can climb to the canopy and stroll through the "Treetops Adventure" walkway high above the canyon floor and the river below. If visiting between December 1, 2020 and January 3, 2021 experience the added bonus of Canyon Lights, where the suspension bridge, rainforest and Capilano River are ablaze with lights. Next, we head north to experience the Grouse Mountain Skyride. We’ll take the tram to a 1,200 metre (3,700 feet) viewpoint above the city and enjoy what the seasons have to offer. In wintertime guests can enjoy the wildlife refuge and take part in sledding, ice skating and more.
Enjoy the breathtaking scenery between Vancouver and Whistler as we drive down the famous Sea to Sky Highway. We’ll drive alongside scenic Howe Sound, the Cheakamus Canyon and past the snow-capped peaks of the Tantalus Mountains before arriving in Whistler Village. Whistler offers natural beauty and a unique mountain lifestyle like nowhere else. Today, we’ll experience the world record-breaking PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola for a journey to the top of Whistler Mountain and then between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Step off and you'll find yourself in a ruggedly breathtaking environment a million years in the making. The mountains feature a network of alpine hiking and interpretive walking trails plus many options for dining and shopping.
This morning grab breakfast at one of Whistler’s many great restaurants such as Elements, Southside Diner or Crêpe Montagne. Then we’ll experience something different with our private snowmobiling tour for families and first-timers as we follow mountain trails and enjoy a mix of easy riding and spectacular winter scenery. We’ll be introduced to the sport of snowmobiling in a safe and exciting environment as we journey through the pristine Callaghan Valley to the historic NorthAir Goldmine site for a fabulous introduction to the backcountry. Follow wide, winding trails at a comfortable pace for beginners. Experience the perfect mix of easy riding and spectacular scenery. The evening is free to explore Whistler at your leisure. *OPTIONAL EXTRA: This afternoon, experience a private dog sledding tour with a powerful dog team to lead us deep into old-growth forests. Stop for a warm-up at a trapper's cabin on Totem Pole Lake and learn about the history of Canadian fur trappers. Join your musher in harnessing and staging the dogs, learn the commands and feel the thrill of driving your own team.
Enjoy your final morning in Whistler at leisure. On our drive back to Vancouver today we’ll stop at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre to learn about the local indigenous culture and the Britannia Mine Museum to discover an immersive historical experience. Take the rest of the day to explore more of Vancouver’s highlights on your own. We suggest biking around Stanley Park, tasting your way through Granville Island Market, or taking a sunset stroll along the beach at English Bay.
Today we bid farewell to Vancouver as we transfer back to Vancouver International Airport to begin the journey home.
