Day 2: Toronto

After a morning and breakfast at leisure, it’s time to visit Canada’s Majestic Castle, Casa Loma, and step back in time to a period of European elegance and splendor. Completed in 1914, it took 300 men nearly three years to complete the almost 200,000 square foot castle at a cost of $3,500,000 (at the time). Today, Casa Loma is one of Toronto’s top attractions. Our next stop is the Royal Ontario Museum. Founded in 1914, the Royal Ontario Museum showcases art, culture and nature from around the world and across the ages. Among the top 10 cultural institutions in North America, Canada’s largest and most comprehensive museum is home to a world-class collection of 13 million artworks, cultural objects and natural history specimens, featured in 40 gallery and exhibition spaces. Combining its original heritage architecture with the contemporary, the ROM serves as a national landmark and dynamic cultural destination for all to enjoy. Tonight, we head over to the world famous CN Tower. Glass-faced elevators, with glass floor panels, will whisk us to the top in a mere 58 seconds. Enjoy breathtaking views of up to 160 km (100 miles) from the indoor and outdoor observatories and stand on the Glass Floor.

Day 3:

A full day lies ahead as we drive along the shores of Lake Ontario passing by the Welland Canal which connects the Great Lakes. Our destination is the Niagara region, blessed with a unique climate and rich soil, that makes for near perfect wine producing conditions. In winter, the region also produces the Canadian specialty, Icewine, renowned for its intense flavours, rich bouquet and unsurpassed smoothness. When temperatures dip to -8ºC (or lower) the frozen grapes are handpicked and pressed immediately to carefully release a thick, rich, yellow-gold liquid, highly concentrated in natural sugars and acidity. We’ll drive through Niagara wine country while we enjoy stops to taste local wines including Icewine at Pillitteri, Inniskillin and Peller estates wineries. Continue on to world famous Niagara Falls. Later tonight take an evening stroll to enjoy the illumination of Niagara Falls.
