Housed in a Neo-Georgian residence built in 1862, the Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre is devoted to the preservation of cultural and heritage traditions of the Eastern Townships. English Tea is a very present and shared tradition among generations in the English-speaking community of our region and much more than a beverage, it is a ritual that invites us to take some time, meet and socialize. In 1912, Benedictine monks from France founded a monastery overlooking Lake Memphremagog. The modern Saint-Benoît-du-Lac Abbey pays tribute to the harmony of natural geometric forms and makes splendid use of multicolored bricks. Many of the monk's prayer meetings are sung in Gregorian and Latin chants. Shop featuring maple products, cider, and cheese.

After breakfast, we begin our journey to the Ulverton Woolen Mill. The Woolen Mill is a heritage institution, classified as a historical monument, dating back to 1840 and nestled in the forests of the Eastern Townships. The Ulverton Mill was an opportunity to witness a rare piece of the pre-industrial development in Canada and the last woolen mill with machines still working in Quebec. The Blanchette Mill, is named in 1906 after its principal owner and introduced visitors to pre-industrial methods of wool production and processing. Guides comment and tell visitors about the daily life of wool workers in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The permanent core collection and tour consists of eight 19th-century industrial machines that are impressively demonstrated. Currently, they are the only museum in Canada that still has working traditional wool processing machinery. The Mill recreates the atmosphere of a late 19th century workshop, a "shop". In addition to being a unique interpretation site, the Ulverton Woolen Mill also offers the population a reception hall with an exceptional cachet. More than 5 km of walking trails along the Ulverton River, in addition to having a specialized boutique, educational activities for the family, as well as being a reference in the world of textiles. It is a place of research on industrial mechanical know-how. The Canadian Railway Museum continues the legacy of the passionate volunteers who made it possible to preserve and enhance Canada’s rich railway heritage. In 1978, the Government of Canada named Exporail as Canada’s specialized railway Museum and since 2007 Exporail has worked to have the Government of Canada carry out this motion of parliament to recognize it as Canada’s National Railway Museum. On the 175th anniversary of the creation of the railway, may Canada’s Parliament designate Exporail a National Museum and thus pay homage to all those who worked to create the unique legacy that helped build Canada. The museum shows the history of the railway in Canada through activities and original train models.
