We start the day with a short drive to Wanuskewin Heritage Park, a National Historic Site located about 6 km north of Saskatoon. The Wanuskewin area contains some of the most exciting archaeological finds in North America, many of which pre-date the pyramids of Egypt. Its uniqueness is not just the evidence of ancient peoples, but rather the composition of many different aspects of habitation, hunting and gathering, and spirituality – all in one place.
Later in the morning enjoy a guided drive tour of Saskatoon including a stop at the 9 Mile Legacy Brewing, one of Saskatoon’s flagship experiences, for a quick tour, their bento box experience for lunch and flight tasting in the tap room.
Drive to the Remai Modern Gallery – a building designed to be animated with art and create transformative experiences. The striking new museum sits on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River, offering intimate spaces, dramatic expanses, and stunning views of the South Saskatchewan River and prairie skies.
Drive to the Black Fox Distillery to spend time with Barbara and John Cote, creators of the world’s best cask gin and recognized as Saskatchewan and Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers, by the national and provincial Institutes of Agrology and the Saskatchewan Ag Grads Association. In 2018, they were awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by Saskatoon Achievement in Business Excellence.
On our drive back to Saskatoon, we will stop at the Crossmount Cidery to give you time to sample (on a direct payment basis) their three varieties of signature blend that were launched in spring of 2016 and the two blends that were launched over the following months. You can sample the Flatlander Gold, the Flatlander Dry, the Flatlander Crisp, the Citri-Hopped, and the blend named Cider & Black.
