Discover the best of the Okanagan Valley: lakes, orchards, wineries and beautiful rolling hills. Starting in Kelowna and heading South to Osoyoos (Canada’s only official desert) we will sample wines of the Similkameen Valley and visit Oliver and the only wine village in Canada. Sampling wines as we go, we continue along the shores of spectacular Lake Okanagan viewing the vineyards and orchards which dominate the hillsides on both sides of the lake. Our journey will take us through a region home to over 200 wineries and through communities of Peachland, Summerland, Penticton, Naramata, and Kelowna.

Day 1: Arrive in Kelowna, BC

Arrive in Kelowna for the start of your Okanagan journey. Check into your hotel and meet your fellow travellers and Tour Leader. Tonight we’ll enjoy a Welcome Dinner on board a 2-hour cruise of beautiful Lake Okanagan. We will sail around City Park, under the William R. Bennett Bridge, around the south side of the bridge with views of spectacular homes and vineyards, and back through the bridge for a picture perfect shot of the cityscape illuminated by the glow of Kelowna’s lights.

Day 2: Kelowna – Osoyoos – Oliver, BC

This morning we’ll start our journey south along the Okanagan Wine Trail towards Osoyoos, Canada’s only true desert area. We make our first stop at the mystical Spotted Lakes, unique to this region and the object of lore for the First Nations People. Our journey then takes us through the Similkameen Valley, a pristine stretch of vineyards, orchards and small farms set amongst the dramatic background of rugged mountains. The absence of pesticide use leads the region to claim the title of “Organic Capital of Canada”. We’ll visit a historic Grist Mill before stopping in Keremeos for our first tasting of the regions Organic Wines. We’ll stop next at Nk’Mip Cellars, the first Indigenous-owned winery in North America, to experience the art of food and wine pairing with award-winning wines and specially prepared “Four Food Chief” inspired food bites. After our light lunch, we’ll journey back up the valley and spend some time sampling the fare of Burrowing Owl Estate Winery. We continue north to nearby Oliver, “Wine Capital of Canada,” where we’ll spend the night. Overnight: Oliver

Day 3: Oliver – Kelowna, BC

A beautiful and relaxing day lies ahead. Our first stop will be a visit to the newly completed District Wine Village, where you can meet some of the local vintners and sample their offerings. We’ll continue north to the resort community of Penticton, neatly perched between Skaha and Okanagan Lakes. The city is famous for it’s annual Peach Festival and renowned for its’ wines. We’ll stop for a short tour of the SS Sicamous a visual reminder of the vital role that Sternwheelers paid in the early transportation routes in the area. Our journey continues along the eastern shore of Okanagan Lake to an area known as the Naramata Bench, home to over 40 wineries with plenty of terroir to swirl, sip and savour. The historic Naramata Inn will be our host for lunch followed by an early afternoon tasting at Bench 1775. Later in the afternoon we return to the western shore of the 90-mile-long lake and travel through the popular resort communities that dot the shoreline. Along the way watch out for the famed lake monster OGOPOGO. Our final tasting will take place at Mission Hill Family Estate. Creating wines that rival the world's best, the winery is renowned for its elegant architecture, dazzling hilltop views, gracious hospitality, Concert Series and the acclaimed Terrace Restaurant. From here we’ll cross the Graceful Bennett Bridge to the beautiful city of Kelowna and our home for the next 2 nights.

Day 4: Kelowna, BC

Today is a day to relax and enjoy this beautiful destination. The morning is free to explore Kelowna or do some local shopping. There will also be optional tours available for wine tasting, cycling, kayaking, or even a round of golf on one of the areas many championship courses. Our Tour Leader will be happy to offer suggestions and facilitate booking any activities. Later this afternoon, we’ll regroup and head to the Okanagan Wine & Orchard Museum to unearth the agricultural treasures that make this region unique. Meet the determined people who lived the trials and triumphs of the tree fruit and wine industries. Discover how growing, processing, transporting and enjoying tree fruits and wine diversified the local landscape and communities. Our Farewell Dinner tonight will be at the famous CedarCreek Estate Winery overlooking Lake Okanagan. We’ll tour the vineyard and learn about their commitment to organic farming, followed by a wine tasting, before enjoying a multi-course “Trust the Chef” dinner. Enjoying fantastic food in this gorgeous setting is the perfect way to celebrate the end of our Okanagan journey.

What is the maximum number of travellers in a group?

Anderson Vacations specializes in Small Group Fully Escorted tours. If the tour is classified as a 'Classic Tour', up to of 24 persons may join the tour although tours commonly travel with anywhere between 18 to 24 travellers. However, if the tour is classified as a 'Tour of Distinction, only up to of 18 persons join the tour and many Tours of Distinction travel with 12 to 18 travellers.

What are Guaranteed Departures?

After dreaming about travel to an exciting destination, arranging for time off work, booking your flights the last thing you need is for your trip to be cancelled. Anderson vacation's Pre-Guaranteed tours take the uncertainty away from planning your travel and give you peace of mind to book our tours. Pre-Guaranteed Tours are group tours that we have already confirmed as certain to travel on the specified date. All 'Guaranteed Tours' will travel except in the event of a natural disaster or a catastrophic event that is beyond our control. They may already have the minimum number of people booked or else are tours that are known to be popular. Select departures of many tours are 'Pre- Guaranteed'.

What is the average age of passengers for this tour?

Our tours are suitable for all age demographics. The average age of travelers is typically 45+

How physically demanding is this tour? Are you able to accommodate people with mobility restrictions/limitations?

Some tours are mainly coach based and may not be physically demanding while others may require walking inclines or on rough surfaces to access interesting locations. Please check with us and your booking agent carefully and discuss your mobility restrictions before completing any tour booking to ensure this style of travel is right for you.

How much luggage should I bring?

Each passenger may bring one large suitcase and one carry-on bag. The weight limit for baggage is 20 kilograms or about 40 pounds. Baggage handling is provided at the hotels in our tour packages but there may be places where you will be required to wheel in your bags for quicker access. Be sure to advise our reservations staff if you will be bringing additional items such as a cane, walker or wheelchair. You may also bring one small soft-sided carry-on bag, which should easily fit into the overhead shelf of a coach. Each person is responsible for his/her own carryon luggage. Remember to check your airline baggage restrictions if you are flying, as they may differ from Anderson Vacations guidelines.

What is your recommended spending amount for non-included meals?

The suggested allowance for non-included meals is $40.00 – $60.00 CAD per day (with tipping).

Can you accommodate passengers with dietary restrictions (food allergies, vegan, vegetarian etc.)?

Yes, but within reason. There are many meals included on our fully escorted tours. Please inform us of any dietary restrictions at the time of booking so we can ensure there are alternative meal choices.
Booking & Flight Questions

Do you arrange airport transfers?

Yes! We can help with booking airport transfers for you in most locations at a reasonable extra cost. Several tours have airport transfers already included. Please ask for details.

Can you assist with booking additional accommodation?

Yes! We can certainly assist with booking additional nights of hotel accommodation for you before and after your fully escorted tour. Please inquire for further information and prices.

Can you assist with booking airline flights?

Yes! We can help with booking your flights for you. We do not recommend you book any flights until you receive your booking confirmation from Anderson Vacations including specific confirmation that your tour is 'Guaranteed'. Please be aware that you may be liable for airline cancellation costs should your tour not become guaranteed and your travel dates need to be amended or cancelled.

I am a solo traveler. Is there a single surcharge?

There are options for single travelers to join most tours. Solo travellers can choose to pay a Single Supplement and have their own room throughout the tour. For those willing to share with a co-traveller of the same gender, we have a Twin Share option that is offered for most tours where you share a hotel rooms with another same gender traveller. No Single Supplement payment is charged to you in this case.

Is it possible to book a triple share accommodation?

Yes, it is possible to book triple share accommodations on select trips. Please inquire about this option, as prices and availability varies from tour to tour.

Can we book this tour with our exclusive group?

Anderson Vacations works with many private groups and helps to customize a tour to travellers needs. Please ask us for details.

Are gratuities included in the tour cost?

For convenience, gratuities for local guides and meals that are specified in the itinerary are included in the tour price. For meals not included in your tour package please remember that it is customary to tip your server 10-20% in North America. Gratuities for your Coach Driver (where appropriate)and Tour Director are entirely at your discretion. We recommend about CDN $5.00 per person, per day, for your Driver and CDN$7.00 per person, per day for your Tour Leader.
