The journey Begins

  • Morning Activities

This morning you will receive a pick up and start your day trip adventure into the majestic Canadian Rockies to Banff National Park. ETA of bus departure: 9:00amWe travel northeast of Calgary to the town of Drumheller. Located in the Badlands of the Red Deer Valley, Drumheller was once a booming coal town with over 100 active coal mines in the region. Now, it is best known as the home of the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology. Before arriving at Drumheller, we will make a stop at the Horseshoe Canyon viewpoint. Stand on the edge of this huge U-shaped canyon and survey the beauty and mystery of the badlands and hoodoos. The two arms of the canyon extend approximately 5 km each and the platforms at the top provide amazing vistas for picture-perfect photos.Upon arrival in Drumheller, a photo stop at the World’s largest Dinosaur with a short climb inside the dinosaur for panoramic views. The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology is Canada’s only museum dedicated exclusively to the study of ancient life. In addition to featuring one of the world’s largest displays of dinosaurs, it offers a wide variety of creative, fun, and educational programs that bring the prehistoric past to life. Discover the amazing fossils, rocks, plants, animals, and history of the badlands. Then we are off to the Hoodoos. Hoodoos take millions of years to form and stand 5 to 7 meters tall. Each hoodoo is a sandstone pillar resting on a thick base of shale capped by a large stone. Hoodoos are very fragile and can erode completely if the capstone is dislodged. The protected hoodoo site is a guaranteed spot to see hoodoos, but smaller versions of these sandstone giants can be found throughout the Badlands. Enjoy a moderate hike on the famous Hoodoos Trail, followed by a picnic lunch.

After dreaming about travel to an exciting destination, arranging for time off work, booking your flights the last thing you need is for your trip to be cancelled. Anderson vacation's pre-Guaranteed tours take the uncertainty away from planning your travel and give you peace of mind to book our tours. Pre-Guaranteed Tours are group tours that we have already confirmed as certain to travel on the specified date. All 'Guaranteed Tours' will travel except in the event of a natural disaster or a catastrophic event that is beyond our control. They may already have the minimum number of people booked or else are tours that are known to be popular. Only select departures of tours are 'pre-Guaranteed'.

We pride ourselves on providing “a small shared group experience.” In the event that we have fewer than ten participants on a tour we will offer a “small-group surcharge” to ensure that the tour runs as scheduled. Our tours are suitable for all age demographics. The average age of travelers is typically 45+.
